Dear Lars:
From my experience exporting spreadsheets, generally the following:
1) Importing and exporting data generally works in most cases,
however not without some caveats.
2) In the case of Spreadsheets, I suggest you export (save as) the
latest Excel version available to you, then allow Excel to import that.
3) This will likely give you most of what you want, however...
3a) If the original spreadsheet contains hyperlinks, these will
likely need to be cleaned up. usually, in Excel, if you then select the
cell containing each hyperlink, and press [CTRL-K], you will see the
errant hyperlink and be in a position to correct it.
4) There may also be the occasional formula that needs fixing. The
more complex the formula, and the more obscure the verbs in that
formula, the greater the likelihood this will occur.
Therefore, if I were to export a simple workbook of one or 2
spreadsheets, I likely would have no cleanup issues.
However if my workbook is a complex batch recipe analyser, or an
inventory controller with 20 to 100 sheets, including a summary page at
the beginning which contains a list of hyperlinks to all those other
sheets, etc. and maybe a hyperlink or 2 that contains a DDE reference, I
can expect I will have my share of rework in Excel.
